Alan McLean , background performance art, described as providing a life changing moment on stage by Tim Etchells in the Guardian, The work has recently been acknowledged 10 years later by Aaron Williamson at Live art development agency. McLean’ s collaboration with Tony Mustoe, My Body Did Everything I Asked was described in Performance..” as an emotionally and intellectually demanding work which tackles issues of power, representation, and handicap head on. It succeeded in being the most radical and challenging work of the festival” As an artist he received many Arts Council awards. Following this McLean worked in Disability Arts working with young disabled people at Full Circle Arts and as Director of West Midlands Disability Arts Forum organising and fund raising for many events. Now Freelance, he is co-ordinator of the Black Country Arts and Disability Network – Working Parts, and supports promoters with a disability to put on professional shows at Black Country Touring. He is clear thinking and considers every eventuality. Facilitates people to have a voice and gives people space to be creative. Ability to gain support for a project with a range of different people, can turn theories into practice with remarkable results. He can vision, facilitate and deliver strategic arts development work; which benefits many partners, bringing Deaf and disabled people into professional arts practice. |
